Lauren Alaina from American Idol & Musicians On Call – {Edwards Photography Studios}

Musicians On Call is a wonderful organization we have worked with for several years. They deliver the healing power of music with in-room performances to patients undergoing treatment or unable to leave their beds, and add a dose of joy to life in a healthcare facilities.  During the holidays, Lauren Alaina from Season 10 of American Idol made a surprise visits to patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt through one of Musicians On Call’s weekly Bedside Performance Programs. We were asked to photograph the event and it was so special.

During the hectic hustle and bustle of the holidays, we tend to forget about people that aren’t able to share in their usual holiday traditions due to illnesses or injuries.  To see the children’s faces light up and see the joy it brings to the families with them is truly amazing.  Even though it is only for a few minutes, they are the surprised with a musician coming to sing to them and it just brightens the day that was otherwise a little dreary.  For more info on Musicians On Call, check out their website at http://www.musiciansoncall.org/site/PageNavigator/home.

Pickin’ for Prevention 2013 – AFSP Middle TN Chapter – Songwriter Event – {Edwards Photography Studios}

To kick off CMA week, some of the biggest songwriters in country music joined together to benefit the Middle TN Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.  With special performances by Randy Owen and Chris Young, it was definitely a one of a kind show.  Songwriters included Dallas Davidson, Anthony Smith, Dave Turnbull, Allen Shamblin, Brian White, Frank Myers, Kylie Sackley, Rob Hatch and Dan Couch.  The hottest new duo, Two Story Road, opened the night with their new music.  Chris Young joined in the “TEXT to Donate”  Program while performing on stage.  Allen Shamblin (co-writer to the song “Why” by Rascal Flatts)  performed this song about losing someone to suicide.

The Middle TN Chapter of AFSP’s mission is dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy and to reaching out to individuals with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide, as well as reduce the stigma associated with mental health.

Country on the Beach ~ {Edwards Photography Studios}

For several years now, EPS has participated with the Country on the Beach Trips to benefit the T.J. Martell Foundation.  Hosted by GAC’s Storme Warren & the country duo Montgomery Gentry, along with several other artists, it always proves to be a fantastic event!  The one and only Mrs.Nancy Jeffares with Travelin’ Inc. organizes the event each year and will not let you down on good times to be had while supporting a wonderful cause!

Complete with several talented artists performing live, sand castle competitions, beach olympics, live auctions, tequila volleyball, live music on a sailboat, parades in the street and an extremely fun and caring group of people, you can’t go wrong by attending this trip.  This is a group of people that love reconnecting each year, while welcoming newcomers and is known as the “most dysfunctional traveling family”. :-)  Register for 2014 and join in the fun! Waddell & Reed Charity Golf Tournament 2013 – {Nashville Community Event Photography}

As always, the annual Waddell & Reed Charity Golf  Tournament was a great time!  This year, supporting the Rob Bironas Fund and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Middle TN Chapter, the financial advising company raised funds and awareness for both organizations and provided great entertainment.  Brother Trouble performed at a concert the night before, hosted by the Wildhorse Saloon, as well as performed  ”pre tee off” at the Hermitage Golf Course.  Several Titans players joined in the festivities and Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry made a special appearance. Catered by the fabulous Giandi’s, and sponsored by Gary Force Acura, all the details were perfect!  Good times…great causes!

Music City Festival & BBQ Championship- {Edwards Photography Studios}

For the past few years, we have had the opportunity to support our community in the Annual Music City BBQ Festival & BBQ Championship…thousands of people from all over join the event…we have even met attendees from New Zealand and Sweden!  Now that’s true BBQ love!  This event is a not only fun for all ages with live music, delicious food, cool cars & bikes and a kids zone, but it is a SERIOUS competition! Over 100 BBQ cook teams compete for cash & prizes, judged by the Memphis BBQ Network and the Kansas City BBQ Society.  As mingling photographers, we like to try out the BBQ ourselves and have enjoyed spending time in the judges tent trying out the leftovers!  :-)  If you are in or around the Nashville area the last weekend of August, come check it out!  2014 is in the planning stages now!

Danny Gokey Sophia’s Heart Cruise – {Edwards Photography Studios}

Hi all Danny Gokey Fans and Sophia’s Heart Supporters!

Through your help, Edwards Photography Studios raised nearly $1500 for the Sophia’s Heart Foundation on the cruise!  As a reminder, the vision for Sophia’s Heart Foundation is to see a future where hearts are healed through acts of love and compassion, helping children of less fortunate families experience music and arts, as well as restoring families who have experienced financial hardship.  In Nashville, Sophia’s Heart is preparing a facility to house nearly 30 families so every contribution counts!

It was a privilege meeting and getting to know several of you on the trip.  I was fascinated to hear how Danny’s music has had such a positive affect on your lives.  Learning about some of your own stories of hardship, I realize how impactful music can be to the soul.  Songs such as “I Still Believe” and “My Best Days are Ahead of Me” have inspired us all.

I remember in an interview Danny once saying, “when you figure out love is all that matters, it sure makes everything else seem so small”.  This shows how powerful love can be.  Your love for his music and the foundation will have such a positive affect on many individuals.

Your support for Edwards Photography Studios, Danny Gokey and Sophia’s Heart is greatly appreciated.  Each and every one of you are making a difference in someone’s life by the participation of this event.

A special thank you to Nancy Jeffares at Travelin’ Inc. for organizing this fabulous event!  We LOVE you Nancy!!

Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle TN – Sounds Game – {Edwards Photography Studios}

As many of you know, the Nashville Sounds support our community by selecting a charity of the night on Thursday nights.  A portion of ticket sales are donated to this charity, as well as the opportunity to raise awareness.  Governor Bill Haslam and the First Lady of TN, Crissy Haslam joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middle TN to support their organization and give the boys and girls an opportunity to share information about the the First Lady’s Read 20 Book Club.  It was a great event, with one of the adorable boys singing the National Athem and Crissy Haslam throwing the first pitch.  An overall great night for raising awareness for literacy improvement and giving children the to be productive, caring and responsible citizens…oh and enjoy some baseball!

Love of your family and friends is the best medicine that can be prescribed.  I realized this recently, as we experienced a tragedy earlier this year.  With the help of a few others that had unfortunately experienced a similar situation, we decided to plan an event to raise money and awareness for this special cause.  The event turned out to be a huge success.  It was such a busy and emotional time…and a huge whirlwind!  However, it all seemed like slow motion.  As I wandered around in a state of awe, taking in every detail, I saw my support system at work.  I couldn’t help but notice there were individuals from every phase of my life…all together…all in one place.   Family and friends that I have known from the day I was born until as recent as this summer were with me to share their love and support.  We were all there as a unit…in body, mind and spirit. I want so badly for these individuals to know how much every ounce of this love is appreciated.  So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your prayers, love, support, donations, phone calls, letters and thoughts.  Because of each and every one of you, we have created an annual event that will hopefully positively affect and change the lives of other families in the future.

Below are the lyrics to Unstoppable, a Rascal Flatts song written by James Slater, Hilary Lindsey and Jay Demarcus.  These lyrics helped me realize how powerful the love of your friends and family really can be so I wanted to share…Enjoy!

When the cold hard rain just won’t quit
And you can’t see your way out of it
You find your faith has been lost and shaken
You take back what’s been taken
Get on your knees and dig down deep
You can do what you think is impossible
Keep on believing, don’t give in
It’ll come and make you whole again
It always will, it always does
Love is unstoppable…

Love, it can weather any storm
Bring you back to being born again
oh, it’s a helping hand when you need it most
A lighthouse shinning on the coast
that never goes dim

When your heart is full of doubt
And you think that there’s no way out
Love is unstoppable…
